How to do B.Ed. from IGNOU?

Doing B.Ed. from IGNOU is more desirable for the students of today than any other university. Bachelor of Education or B.Ed. from IGNOU is recognized by the National Council for Teachers’ Education. It is probably the only university that has a flexible class with a degree that is recognized globally. IGNOU does also have got the distinction of being the only university that has the most renowned study materials. The university conducts an examination twice a year for its IGNOU B.Ed. course, respectively for January and July sessions.

Given below are the eligibility criteria, reservation, duration of the course, medium of the exam, how to apply, entrance test, the structure of the entrance exam, admission process, admission, application fees, course fees, and admission confirmation in B.Ed. from IGNOU:

Eligibility Criteria:

i) 50 % marks in graduation or Post-graduation:50% marks is required in graduation or post-graduation in social science/science/commerce/humanity/

ii) Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology with specialization in science and mathematics with 55% marks or any other equivalent.

Reservation: There are reservations and relaxations in marks for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC as per the rules of the Central Government/State Government. In addition to these, there is a relaxation of 5% marks for the Kashmiri migrants.

iii) Two years’ teaching experience as Primary/Graduate/Post Graduate teacher in a primary, secondary/higher/senior secondary school, or MCD school on permanent/temporary basis. The teacher should be in service at the time of submitting the application form and producing original documents.

The teacher should also be in service of teaching at the school level(primary/secondary/sr. secondary) during the period of completion of the program. It is important to note here that the experience certificate issued other than the Principal/Headmaster/Headmistress will be treated as null and void.

iv) Having Passing Marks in NCTE-recognized teacher education programs through face- to-face mode.
Maximum Age on the 1st January of an academic year: Age no bar

Duration of Course: 2 years (however, the maximum period allowed to complete the course is 5 years)
Medium of Exam: English and Hindi(You can pick any of these two languages, you are good at)

How to Apply?

i) Online and Offline mode: There are both online and offline modes available to apply for this exam. Though the students of today are very well aware of the online mode,  you can opt for the offline mode as well if you are not comfortable with the new mode.

ii) Contact to the Regional IGNOU Centre located nearby: The applicants need to submit their application form at the regional centre located nearest to their residence.

Entrance Test

The Entrance Test is held on the date mentioned in the advertisement. Hall Tickets are provided to the candidates 10 days before the commencement of the Entrance Test. If any student does not get the Hall Ticket 3 days before the date of the Entrance Test, the candidate can download Hall Ticket from the website of IGNOU, i.e., www.ignou.ac.in.

Application Fees: Rs. 1,000 for Appearing in the Entrance Exam

Course Fee: Rs. 50,000/- for the entire two-year duration

Admission Process

Candidates get selected on the basis of their score/merit obtained in the entrance test by IGNOU on All India Basis.

Admission

Admission is granted at the Regional Centre based on the score obtained on the entrance test. Once an offer letter for admission from the Regional Centre is issued after the entrance test, the candidates need to submit their original documents.

Admission Confirmation: The final admission to the course will be subject to rank in the All India Entrance Test and production of proof of the eligibility along with the original certificates.
