Hello Dear IGNOU Students,
I have noticed many students being worried about the preparation of IGNOU Tutor Marks, Assignments and submissions. Many do not know the last date of submission of assignment and how to select the correct session of the assignment.
Indira Gandhi National Open University– IGNOU is a National Open University of India. It offers a wide range of courses under distance education system. Under this system, the students can take admission and study from home and take weekly classes.
This allows the working people to add more qualification/s to their profile which is great for their promotion/career enhancement.
1. July Admission Session: Every year in July, admission is taken and the exam is conducted in the next year, May-June. Suppose, you take Admission in July 2022 then your Exam will be held in May-June 2023 .“Hence your Session will be – JULY 2022 – JUNE 2023 for this particular year”.
2. January Admission Session: This is the second admission cycle which you can say in a Calendar Year Session. It Means Admission and Exam take place in the same Year. Suppose you take Admission in JAN, 2023, then your exam will be conducted in the month of DECEMBER, 2023. Hence, your session will be "JAN-2023 to DEC-2023”.
I believe now you got an idea on how the admission cycle works and what is your session. Coming to the next most important point, that is IGNOU Assignment Submission, Exams are conducted twice a year, i.e., May-June & December.
Assignment Work needs to be submitted before every exam. For the May-June exam, the last date to Submit TMA work by 31 March, and for December Exam, TMA Work will be required to be submitted by 30 September.
Assignments are uploaded by IGNOU on the website https://webservices.ignou.ac.in/assignments/ every year. One Session assignments works are submitted for both July & January Admission Sessions.
For example, if you have taken admission or you have cleared the exam and promoted to next year of the course in JULY 2023, then you need to Submit the IGNOU Handwritten Assignment for session 2023-24, And if you have taken admission in Jan 2018, then also you will need to submit the same assignment work for the session 2023-24.
July Session Means- Your Course Started in July.
January Session Means- Your Course Started in January.
Both the Sessions have the same Tutor Marks Assignment Work for the students which they need to submit before the exam of the particular session.
