IGNOU PTS-04 Project – Contribution of World Heritage Sites of Delhi

Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) estimate that tourism generates some 12% of the world total GNP. With studies predicting continued growth, tourism is an increasingly important factor in the planning and management at UNESCO World Heritage sites. Tourism is thus an important factor in the economy of many countries and in the management of many cultural sites and natural areas.

Objectives

• Following objectives are formulated for the proposed study:
• To study the tourism potential of the three world heritage sites of Delhi.
• To analyses the contribution of these sites in promotion of tourism of in Delhi.
• To examine the impact of urbanization on world heritage sites of Delhi; and
• To analysis of Govt. policies to promote the world heritage sites.
• To analysis the future growth of tourism with reference to the world heritage sites.
