IGNOU PTS-05 Project – Environment and Adventure of Uttaranchal Tourism

Uttaranchal is one of the most beautiful and enchanting region located on the northern part of India on the valley of Himalayas. The State, which was curved out of Uttar Pradesh, got the statehood in the year 2001. Nature has endowed this land with so much beauty and spiritual bliss that it is also known as Dev Bhoomi the Land of Gods. Ganga, Yamuna and scores of other rivers originate in Uttaranchal. Among them Ganga is the most holy and prominent as she represents the soul of India - her rich culture, history and civilization.

Objectives

• Build and manage the required tourist facilities in all places of tourist interest in Uttaranchal.
• To ensure preservation and protection of tourist attractions and give lead in green practices in Uttaranchal for a better destination.
• Sponsor maintenance of monuments, museums and parks and provision of public conveniences and facilities.
• Undertake industry training and man-power development to achieve excellence in quality of services.
• To study the major actions taken by the Government of Uttaranchal.
• Endeavour to promote tourism on a sustained and long term perspective.
